THE ÅLAND SCHOOL MUSEUM
In 1888, the teacher Viktor Jansson from Vårdö built the structure which today houses the Åland School Museum. Jansson lived and taught here till his death in 1895. In order to look as it did at the turn of the 20th century, the old school building has been restored in keeping with past tradition. Although some of the objects are from the old school, most of the school inventories have been gathered from all over Åland. The teacher’s living quarters are partially furnished with items that once belonged to Viktor Jansson and his family.
